PartecipanteThis is a great plugin — when it works… About 80% of the time (maybe closer to 90%), when my page loads, I get the message “Loading the player…” and that’s as far as it gets. I know I have the right URL, etc., because if I reload the page repeatedly, the player will eventually come up — and then it works beautifully. So what’s going on? Is there some setting I need to be looking at? All our videos are self-hosted, using the Amazon CloudFront CDN. I really, really want to use this plugin because the player looks so nice (and works well too, when it eventually loads). Help please.

Amministratore del forumI Mark.
I’m sorry for the problem that you’re having; let me see if I can help you.
Can you give me your jwplayer.js url and a page link where you added a video?
Thank you.17 Febbraio 2016 alle 23:12 #785Mark J

Amministratore del forumHi Mark. I just sent an email to JW Player support for asking more details about this kind of files.
Usually they answer very quickly so we will have the solution soon.18 Febbraio 2016 alle 21:59 #791Mark J
PartecipanteJust in case the flv format is a problem, I also have the files in mp4 format. I’ve tried them with the player as well, and get the same result… Would it help if I loaded one of those on that test page for you to see as well?

PartecipanteIn fact, I can convert to several different formats… I’d just need some guidance on what format is best. The mp4 files are H.264 AAC 221 Kbps 640×480.

Amministratore del forumWhat I expect is a specific embed code for videos placed on cloudfront but anyway… mp4 is the best choose!
Let’s wait the response.20 Febbraio 2016 alle 15:57 #807ilGhera
Amministratore del forumHi Mark.
The JW Player support said that there we should be able to play that video and gave me this link to try it.
http://demontact them.jwplayer.com/stream-tester/
Of course I tried your video by myself before contact them, is the second video on http://www.flairvideo.net/test, but I saw that it stops after about 10 seconds every time, that’s why I asked help to them.
The response is that everything is ok, probably my connection is too slow for that, nothing more.
Please, try to test the video at the first link and check if you can see it at the second, where I used my plugin.
Please let me have a feedback, ok?
Thanks.22 Febbraio 2016 alle 18:30 #812Mark J
PartecipanteOK, Andrea… First of all, the first link in your reply is broken, so I couldn’t test it. The second link doesn’t work in my Firefox browser — I think because the file we’re trying to load is a Flash file and I have that Firefox plugin disabled (security). When I load the second link into Firefox, the first video on your page runs perfectly, but the second on gives me the error “Flash plugin failed to load”, which kind of makes sense (since I have Flash disabled in Firefox) When I load the second link into Internet Explorer, both places where videos should be show “Loading the player…”. When I load the second link into Google Chrome, I also get two messages, “Loading the player…”.
At any rate, here is what I have discovered… Thinking the fact that the file is a Flash file (flv) might be a problem, I transcoded it to mp4. If I create a new page and simply fill in the JW Player 7 URL field with the link to the video file (http://d3u35q6y7cpasm.cloudfront.net/Nishioka-Lecture-1.mp4), then Publish the page, the player works as it should. However, if I then go back into the page and edit it for some reason — say to put in the video title and video description (using the “Options” button beneath the JW Player 7 URL field) — and then Update the page, the player no longer works. I’ve tried this multiple times and get the same results every time. To recap:
- Create a new page with a video link in the URL field and Publish it, the player works.
- Edit the same page and Update, the player no longer works…
I also found that if I fill in the fields for video title and video description (along with the video URL) while creating the new page and Publish, then in that case the player doesn’t work either. As if the page doesn’t like the video title and video description fields filled in.
I can get around this by simply putting my title and description on the page itself, but you might want to see if you can reproduce the same problem I’m seeing…
The file I’m working with now: http://d3u35q6y7cpasm.cloudfront.net/Nishioka-Lecture-1.mp4

Amministratore del forumHi Mark.
Thanks for the detailed description.
I had no problem in playing the flv video, the only problem was the latency but that’s for my slow connection.
I can’t play this mp4, not on my site, not on the tester here
http://demo.jwplayer.com/stream-tester/
Anyway, the main problem you have, is that the player is not shown on your page, and that’s happens, as you said, when you edit the video details after published it.
You are probably having a conflict with another component of your site, this could be the theme or another plugin.
What you have to do is change to a default theme, something like Twenty Sixteen, disable all plugins and then reactivate them one by one.
That could be useful to find out the responsible of your issue.
Last thing… what happen if you use a YouTube video? Have you got the same problems?
Thank you. -
