OK, Andrea… First of all, the first link in your reply is broken, so I couldn’t test it. The second link doesn’t work in my Firefox browser — I think because the file we’re trying to load is a Flash file and I have that Firefox plugin disabled (security). When I load the second link into Firefox, the first video on your page runs perfectly, but the second on gives me the error “Flash plugin failed to load”, which kind of makes sense (since I have Flash disabled in Firefox) When I load the second link into Internet Explorer, both places where videos should be show “Loading the player…”. When I load the second link into Google Chrome, I also get two messages, “Loading the player…”.

At any rate, here is what I have discovered… Thinking the fact that the file is a Flash file (flv) might be a problem, I transcoded it to mp4. If I create a new page and simply fill in the JW Player 7 URL field with the link to the video file (http://d3u35q6y7cpasm.cloudfront.net/Nishioka-Lecture-1.mp4), then Publish the page, the player works as it should. However, if I then go back into the page and edit it for some reason — say to put in the video title and video description (using the “Options” button beneath the JW Player 7 URL field) — and then Update the page, the player no longer works. I’ve tried this multiple times and get the same results every time. To recap:

  1. Create a new page with a video link in the URL field and Publish it, the player works.
  2. Edit the same page and Update, the player no longer works…

I also found that if I fill in the fields for video title and video description (along with the video URL) while creating the new page and Publish, then in that case the player doesn’t work either. As if the page doesn’t like the video title and video description fields filled in.

I can get around this by simply putting my title and description on the page itself, but you might want to see if you can reproduce the same problem I’m seeing…
